KAIROS RETREAT

October, 2006

Where do we begin? Let’s be honest, when we first heard about the Kairos Retreat our initial thoughts were that it would be a bit of craic and that we would listen to prayers and orders to love God, and then play football for the rest of the day. This was not the case. We took part in a life-changing experience.

When we arrived in Drumalis Retreat Centre, Larne, we were given two simple instructions: to be open to everything and secondly, what we put into the retreat we would get out of it.

Before the retreat we didn’t know some of the others in our year group. But, as the weekend unfolded, the bond between us grew. We listened, talked and shared our thoughts and feelings. No one was judged and everyone was encouraged.

What about future Kairos Retreats? Well, our advice to the present fifth years is to seriously consider taking part in the next retreat. Be open and give it your best shot. You will not be disappointed. Trust us! It is well worth it. Every day we think of what we learned on the retreat and it has changed us, for the better.

Finally, I would like to thank Sister Anne and EVERYONE involved in the retreat. It was an experience that changed our lives, forever.
